Meet the team
The core team is based at the Tees Barrage, right at the heart of the SMI area. It comprises:

Les Southerton, Project Director Les has nearly 40 years of planning and regeneration experience in the Tees Valley area having been amongst other things a Director of a local authority department, the Chief Executive of the East Middlesbrough City Challenge Pacemaker Initiative and between 1997 and 2007 was Chief Executive of the Middlesbrough Town Centre Regeneration Company. Les retired in June 2007 and works three days a week (Monday to Wednesday) on SMI issues. Les is also Chairman of the Middlesbrough Local Strategic Partnership, Chair of Tees Valley Dance and Saltburn Artists’ Projects and a Director of Tees Valley Housing, Natures World and Northern Architecture. David Allred, Major Projects Officer, Middlesbrough Council Following a brief spell at the Tees Valley Joint Strategy Unit David moved to Middlesbrough Council in January 2003.
