THE FORMER INCINERATOR SITE
This site was farmland until 1979 when the Portrack Incinerator was built to burn domestic waste. The incinerator closed in the late 1990's and was demolished.
The Tees Valley Wildlife Trust now manage the site as Portrack Meadows and the site now contains a wildflower meadow, new tree planting, ponds and footpaths.
The site may eventually be developed but future uses are heavily constrained by adjacent HSE consultation zones.
